Abortion Safety / Does abortion increase the risk of breast cancer?

In February 2003, the National Cancer Institute (www.cancer.gov) convened a workshop of over 100 of the world's leading experts who study pregnancy and breast cancer risk. They concluded that having an abortion does not increase a woman's risk of developing breast cancer. There has been no credible scientific evidence to show that miscarriage or abortion increases this risk at all. While there may be some small correlation between pregnancy and breast cancer, it is not related to the outcome of the pregnancy.
