Abortion Options / How do I know how many weeks pregnant I am?

Gynecologists measure pregnancy from the first day of your last normal menstrual period. This can be an inaccurate calculation as some women will continue to bleed early in their pregnancy. A more reliable way to determine how far along your pregnancy is, is to have an ultrasound or an examination by a physician. The number of weeks estimated by ultrasound or physician will still be based on a scale from the last menstrual period, which is generally two weeks before the act of intercourse. One or both of these tests will be performed prior to your abortion.

If you would like to estimate how many weeks pregnant you are by your period dates, please use our pregnancy calculator.
