Fees / Will my insurance/Medicaid cover abortion?

Most insurance companies cover at least some of the cost of first trimester surgical abortion procedures. You can call your insurance company and ask if they cover abortion services. Then call your chosen provider or the Pro-Choice Hotline (1-800-ABORTION) to see where your insurance is accepted. Certain state assistance programs will cover the procedure, but this varies state to state- see the Will Medicaid Pay for My Abortion FAQ for a list of states.

If you are covered under someone else's medical insurance and have chosen not to inform them of your abortion, call your insurance provider and ask if they have privacy protection available for you. If they do not, the insurance policy holder may see the procedure bill.
